5 out of 5

Synopsis
From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.

These Royals will ruin you…

Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.

Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.

Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.

He might be right.

Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.

Review
Ella has had a pretty shit time, after the death of her mum, but she's resilient and focused on what she wants. What she didn't expect was being plucked out of her pauper's existence, to live amongst the wealthy and influential - if only she can survive them.

I snapped this up, when it was on offer last month, and I'm really glad I did.
Have you ever just sat staring at a book, thinking how perfect it is?

First of all, we have Ella. Our main character knows her end goal - getting herself a decent education, so she can get a decent job and support herself. Ella also doesn't care what she has to do to achieve that dream.
After her mother's long and painful battle with cancer, Ella is now skint and alone. To remedy that, she moves town; lies about her mum still being alive and forges her signature at school; and works three jobs to keep a rundown roof over her head. One of those jobs being a stripper at a local club.

So, obviously, she's fairly awesome, tough, and very clued up. It was so much fun to follow her adventure as she is dragged (literally) into a very different world.

The Royals are obscenely rich. The five sons are spoiled and have been allowed to run wild. They have the school under their thumbs, and are used to ruling.
Until Ella comes along, and stubbornly refuses to play their game.

This book is seriously amazing. It pushes the boundaries of what you might expect in something that's categorised as YA and Romance. The bullying is severe, as is the sexual harassment.
On more than one occasion, I wanted to clout the Royal brothers around the head with something heavy.
But it's also funny, and entertaining, and I was hooked throughout.
Also, I completely love Easton, and want to wrap him up and cuddle - which is really surprising after this character's first impression, and his second, third and fourth.

I was also so thrilled with a certain Reed Royal. He's an alpha douchebag, and even as the story progresses, and his feelings for Ella change, he doesn't magically become soft and perfect!
I had to mention this, as it is one of my major peeves in romances, so it was a relief Paper Princess provided something with a bit more clout!

I highly recommend this, and I need to get book two!
