by Melissa A. Craven

4 out of 5

Synopsis
Allie Carmichael has always believed life is simple.
You’re born. You live. You die.
She has no cause to believe that equation works differently for her, but there has to be a reason the world treats her like a pariah.
When an unexpected move to Kelleys Island brings Aidan McBrien crashing into her life, Allie is thrown by his reaction. He doesn’t shrink from her touch. He doesn’t stutter or make a quick exit. He smiles and welcomes her into his circle of friends, who aren’t exactly comfortable with Allie, but they seem to get her in a way most people don’t.
Finally, Allie has a real shot at normal and rides that high right up to her sixteenth birthday when she wakes in agony—an experience Aidan insists they have all faced. She struggles in ignorance, uncertain of what is real and what isn’t. When she emerges, Allie is different. She has always been different, but even among her extraordinary friends, she and Aidan are special.
As Allie struggles to maintain her tenuous grasp on the power that threatens to overwhelm her, she worries she will lose herself in this strange new world. A dangerous world where she will have to fight tooth and nail to defend the power and freedom that is her birthright.
…only Allie hates to fight.

#BooktagsBlogHop

The purpose of this blog hop is for readers and writers to share what they are reading, have read, are writing, or have written with others. This is not about promoting free or discounted books, though some of those may be featured. This is about book lovers sharing what they love about books.  This blog hop is about the Joy of Reading and the Joy of Writing with tags of your choosing and is hosted by author and blogger, Toi Thomas, the 3rd Monday of each month.

We've been encouraged that, if we prefer, we can do a themed post - and being October, that would of course lean towards dark, night and all things spooky.
But I think the scariest thing about this month is how many things I'm trying to cram into it.
It's my own fault really, I'm addicted to reading books, and I'm struggling to control my works-in-progress.
So deep breath, and let's introduce you to what's keeping me busy at this very moment:

CK Dawn - Spoiler Interview

Welcome to the second instalment of my Spoilers series!

If you missed it last time, and are wondering what is so special about these interviews, it is simply this:
The interviewer (that would be me), and the interviewee (my dear little victim) are not restrained by the golden rule of interviews - questions and answers are not allowed to contain spoilers.

Yeah, that rule is going out the window during this series.
This is my selfish little way of getting answers to the questions I really want to ask.

So this is your first warning - if you have not yet read Cloak of Shadows, you have three options:
1) Buy the book;
2) Read my relatively-spoiler-free review;
3) Read CK Dawn's regular interview.

But effectively, no matter what your choice, you have to GO AWAY.  This interview is not for you.

Ready to Were

Ready to Were

by Robyn Peterman

4 out of 5

Synopsis
I was a top notch Were agent for the secret paranormal Council and happily living in Chicago where I had everything I needed –  a gym membership, season tickets to the Cubs and Dwayne – my gay, Vampyre best friend. Going back now would mean facing the reason I’d left and I’d rather chew my own paw off than deal with Hank.

Hank the Tank Wilson was the six foot three, obnoxious, egotistical, perfect-assed, best-sex-of-my-life, Werewolf who cheated on me and broke my heart. At the time, I did what any rational woman would do. I left in the middle of the night with a suitcase, big plans and enough money for a one-way bus ticket to freedom. I vowed to never return.

But here I am, trying to wrap my head around what has happened to some missing Weres without wrapping my body around Hank. I hope I don’t have to eat my words and my paw.

Seven Sons

Seven Sons

by Lili St. Germain

5 out of 5

Synopsis
*Please note this book is dark romance and deals with serious themes including rape, violence and murder.*
This story unfolds over seven volumes approx. 25 - 30,000 words each.

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the leader of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime that he didn’t commit, framed by an enemy within who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.
Including my innocence.

When Dornan Ross framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old.
Before my father died, Dornan and his sons stole my innocence, branded my skin and in doing so, ensured that their lives would be prematurely cut short. That they would suffer.

I’ve just turned twenty-one, and I’m out for blood. I'm out for revenge.
But I didn't expect to fall for Jase, the youngest brother in the club.
I didn't expect that he would turn my world upside down, yank my heart out of my chest and ride away into the sunset with it.

Now, I'm faced with an impossible choice - Jase, or avenging my fathers death?

C.L. Schneider - Spoiler Interview

Welcome to the new Spoilers series.
What does it involve?  How is this different to normal interviews?
Well, quite simply, most interviews hinge on the writer; and the author is often constrained by not wanting to give away any of those key secrets in their book.

But here we intend to break those little rules, and dig into everything we want to know about the story.

My first victim- I mean, lovely author-type person - is the one and only C.L. Schneider: writer of the Crown of Stones series.
So if you don't want Magic Price (Crown of Stones #1) ruined - you have been warned.
Why don't you go pick up the book:

Or check out my (relatively) spoiler-free review: clickee here

Harlow Whittaker Series

by Valerie Day-Sanchez

Ok, so about this time last year, I was reading and reviewing the very imaginative Harlow Whittaker & the Apprentice.  And about four months before that, I had the pleasure of getting an interview with Valerie.

Well, the good news is that the third and final book Harlow Whittaker & the End of Days has finally been released, so we can find out how Harlow, Larkin & co come back from that massive cliff-hanger in the last book.
But even better, to celebrate the series, Day-Sanchez has given her books a bit of a makeover.

Synopsis
In Minterville, Georgia, the residents live in relative seclusion, partly to keep crime out of their small, tranquil community, and partly to prevent the world from finding out about The Minter, a form of telepathy that interconnects them and gives them a sense of unity.

Then The Minter, which cannot function in the presence of evil, stops working. Mayor Tom Watson suspects that two families who had recently moved to town have ties to Manuela Escribano (known as the Ice Queen), a prolific drug lord who, unbeknownst to the rest of Minterville, has a deadly score to settle with Tom.

No one, including Tom, has any idea how deep the Manuela's desire for revenge runs, until one Friday morning, twenty women disappear. When Manuela sends in a video detailing her diabolical plot to get revenge against Tom and the community that has harbored him for thirty years, Minterville must come together as one to rescue the women before time runs out. They must act quickly, or innocent people will die and their beloved community (and along with it, The Minter) will be destroyed forever.
